What Almost Naked is
Almost Naked is an aloe-based personal lubricant made by Good Clean Love. The maker lists its ingredients as "Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Agar, Propietary Lactic Acid Blend, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, and Natural Flavor", and states a pH of 4.0 to 4.4 and an osmolality of 250 to 400 mOsmol/kg; these are the maker's figures, not independently tested. The top of that range is slightly above the 380 mOsm/kg ideal in the WHO/UNFPA/FHI 360 advisory note on lubricants (WHO advisory note). FDA cleared it through the 510(k) process (FDA 510(k) K150094) under the classification "Lubricant, Personal" (FDA product classification NUC). The 510(k) record states that it is compatible with natural rubber latex, polyisoprene and polyurethane condoms.
Lubricant evidence and lab safety data
Lubricants as a group have good support. In a five-week double-blind diary study of 2,453 women assigned one of six water- or silicone-based lubricants, lubricant use was linked to higher sexual pleasure and satisfaction and was rarely associated with genital symptoms PMID: 21143591. A family-medicine review recommends water- or silicone-based lubricants that are free of harmful ingredients and within recommended osmolality and pH ranges for condom users and for people who get recurrent vaginal infections or irritation PMID: 40730448, and the North American Menopause Society lists lubricants among effective options for menopausal dryness PMID: 32852449.
What sets this brand apart is independent lab data. In 2012 testing of over-the-counter lubricants, very concentrated water-based gels damaged cells and tissue samples. A Good Clean Love lubricant was one of the two nearly iso-osmolar water-based products, and the researchers rated it among the safest in their testing PMID: 23144863. That study did not name the Almost Naked variant, and it tested tissue in the lab rather than comfort in people.
Who Almost Naked suits
Consider Almost Naked if you want an inexpensive lubricant that is listed as condom-compatible, or a product from a brand whose lubricant tested near-iso-osmolar in the lab (the variant tested was not named).
Consider a silicone lubricant if you want glide that lasts longer without reapplying. Consider a moisturizer such as Replens or Revaree Plus if dryness bothers you between times.
