Our Methodology

How we grade evidence, describe treatments, and earn money — documented in full.

We are not a testing lab

We are not a testing lab, and we do not claim to have tried, tested or measured the products we write about. Our assessments come from published clinical research (cited by PubMed ID), FDA drug labels on DailyMed, and FDA records such as approvals, device authorizations and safety notices. When a fact cannot be sourced, we soften the claim or remove it.

Evidence grades

Every product gets a grade for how strong the evidence is that this kind of product does what it is sold for. Each grade points to the specific studies or FDA records behind it, listed with each product.

GradeMeaningStarting rating
AStrong evidence. First-line: consistent randomized trials or meta-analyses show benefit.4.5 / 5
BModerate evidence. Benefit shown, but in fewer or smaller trials.3.8 / 5
CLimited evidence. Plausible and low-risk, but trials are small, low quality, or inconsistent.3.0 / 5
DNot recommended for routine use. Works, but the harms outweigh it next to better options.2.3 / 5

The star rating starts from the grade, then moves by a small practical adjustment for tolerability, convenience and value — at most +0.3 up or -0.7 down. The range is narrow on purpose: price or convenience should never outweigh whether a product category works.

Products in higher-risk supplement categories (male enhancement supplements, testosterone boosters, female libido supplements) need at least a B grade before we rank them or link to them. Below that, they appear only in honest-assessment articles with no buy button.

How we describe prescription treatments

Every mention of a prescription treatment states which of these four tiers it falls into:

FDA-approved
Approved by FDA for this condition. We describe dose, timing, interactions and warnings from the FDA label on DailyMed.
Off-label with evidence
Approved for something else, with published clinical evidence for this use. We describe the mechanism and the evidence, and say plainly that it is off-label.
Compounded (no formulation data)
Mixed by a pharmacy rather than an FDA-approved product. The ingredient may be studied, but the specific formulation usually is not. We do not recommend compounded combination products.
No evidence
No meaningful clinical evidence for this use. We say so, and we do not link to it as a recommendation.

We cover the drug where the evidence is, not the brand that pays. Off-label testosterone and hormone therapy are described by mechanism and evidence only. Telehealth providers are shown with their LegitScript certification status at first mention, including when we could not confirm it.

Supplements with hidden drugs

FDA regularly finds sexual enhancement supplements that contain undeclared prescription drug ingredients, such as sildenafil or tadalafil. We screen every product in our catalog against a list of product names taken from FDA's notices (27 entries today), and our automated checks fail if a listed product is ever added. Before buying any supplement in this category, check FDA's Health Fraud Product Database.

Medical review

Our content is not yet medically reviewed. It is researched and fact-checked against primary sources, but no licensed clinician has reviewed it. Articles will say “medically reviewed” only once a named reviewer has actually reviewed them.

What We Earn

This is the only commission table on the site; every article ends with a short disclosure that links here.

PartnerWhat we earn
Amazon Associates1-4.5%/sale (Health & Personal Care ~1%)
Hone Health (telehealth)Pending approval — $0 earned
Ro (telehealth)Pending approval — $0 earned
Hims (telehealth)Pending approval — $0 earned
Lemonaid Health (telehealth)Pending approval — $0 earned

Amazon rates vary by product category. Buying through our links does not change your price.

While a telehealth program is pending, its buttons link to one of our own pages instead of the provider, so nothing is earned and no visitor is sent to an unpaid partner link.

Editorial independence

No partner can pay for a higher ranking, a better grade, or removal of critical content. Grades are set from the evidence before any affiliate link is added. When a cheaper option is as good, we say so, even though it earns us less.
